CLEAN COAL ENERGY LEGISLATION is on the forefront of vital Boilermaker issues.

Clean coal technology will create countless jobs for Boilermakers and the Building and Construction Trades.

• We are aggressively promoting the use of advanced clean coal technologies that safety store carbon dioxide.
• Our future is at risk from both over reliance on foreign oil and the risks of climate change.
• We can transform the way we generate and use energy with the development of carbon capture storage (CCS) technology.
• Congress must support a responsible climate policy that invests in a clean energy future. Congress must provide much needed regulatory certainty and financial assistance to accelerate the deployment of advanced coal technology with CCS.

THE EMPLOYEE FREE CHOICE ACT will level the playing field for workers and employers and help rebuild the middle class by restoring workers freedom to bargain for better wages and benefits. It would:

• Strengthen penalties for companies that coerce or intimate employees in an effort to prevent them from forming a union;
• Bring in a neutral third party to settle a contract when a company and a newly certified union cannot agree on a contract after three months;
• Allow employees to form unions by signing cards authorizing union representation.

We need the Congress and Senate to co-sponsor and vote for the Employee Free Choice Act to restore workers’ freedom to bargain with their employers for secure jobs, health care and retirement benefits and fair pay.
